I've noticed that it may take a few moments for the pop before relay to
actually activate.  I'll send a message, it fails.  I check the mail
account, then send again.  It fails.  I wait for 5 seconds, then send, it
works.

Are you sure you're giving it enough time?

I have both types of usernames and they both behave similar.

there´s any known issue with POP Before SMTP Relaying 1.0.7 on raq4?
poprelayd is running, PbS feature is activated in the gui.
it works for me, but only for users without a "." in their usernames.
-> ptosh@xxxxxxxxxx is fine, p.tosh@xxxxxxxxxx failed with
550 check your mails first, but i checked first!
any suggestions?
