the sun in sunrpc stands for Sun Microsystems,
this is the company who owns cobalt.

The rpc stands for Remote Procedure Call.
It allows programs to be remotely triggered
on the target system. Although it has some
definite advantages for some LAN or
INTRANET situations, it can be a security
nightmare for servers attached to the internet.

For a very good book on security issues in
linux, grab a book called "Maximum Linux Security"
published by SAMS, I got mine from Amazon.com
