Probably nothing wrong with the raq, hardware wise, or the software
installation either. It looks like a cron job is hanging your machine or a
combination of cron jobs. You could kill the crond, which would probably
fix the problem, but your logs wouldn't rotate and the active monitor
wouldn't work.
I recommend taking a look (or getting someone else to take a look) at your
/etc/cron.daily weekley etc folders.
