I would have to agree. Why don't you just make ProFTP avaliable to EVERY
one in the world. Would save a whole load of trouble.

Maybe you would first need to upload the files as 'admin' then use ssh to
login as 'admin' and then su to root and there you go. 
You can do what you like much safer than leeting root access the system
from the outside world directly.
