i had this same problem....my problem occured when i created a subdomain
web.mydomain.com ..it started giving the exact same problems....so what i
did was to rename the web to something else..but still it didnt work.
finally i tried to stop all mail server, remove all MX records (of that
particular siet of course) and restart the mail server and re-add the MX
records ..DONT FORGET ...that u should only have something like this:
mydomain.com -> 2121212121 (ipaddress)
www.mydomain.com->2121212121
212121212121->mydomain.com
mydomain.com points to the whatever priority mail server www.mydomain.com
try it out then..it should work.
good luck
