Thanks Lanny and Gerald -
OK - DNS is still not active - let me explain. My
Cobalt is setup with an ISP (co-located), and they
setup the DNS and zones for me - I just tell them
which of my 8IP's I want it pointed to . .but, Network
Solutions DNS still hasn't updated.

Anyway - I tried what you suggested - "Open Web", and
I put the http://IPaddress in the folder box, and I
get this message: "The folder "http://IPAddress is
not accessible. The folder may be located on an
unavailable volume or may be protected with a
password. For details, see
c:\windows\TEMP/wecerr.txt"

However, if I just go to "Open", and type
http://IPaddress in the filename box, I open to the
first virtual website I have pointing to that IP,
which incidentally, is NOT FP enabled?!?!?

Thinking this could be an issue related to DNS not
being active, I attempted to Open Web on a virutal
site that is active in DNS, and it IS FP enabled,
called christianrenewalssi.org

I go to Open Web: and in folder name, I type:
http://www.christianrenewalssi.org

I get the login box, where I type in the site
administrators ID and password, and it begins opening
the web, and I get these errors:

"Server Error - cannot change permissions on on file
/home/sites/site2/web/ministries.html"

and when I click on "OK", and this error starts
popping up on nearly every .html file, until it
finally gets to index.html, and when I click OK, the
site folder that had appeared goes away, and i'm left
with nothing.

Aside of wishing everyone in the world used
Dreamweaver, I realize there are too many FP users out
there, and I really need to get this going.

Sorry, Gerald, but to be 100% honest and transparent,
this newbie has no clue what you are talking about!
By "on windows" - do you mean the Windows OS? I use a
Macintosh, and did put "Virtual PC" on the Mac so that
I could run Windows 98 and FrontPage 2000, but as far
as editing a "hosts file". .never heard of it. I'm
also not aware of the Linux /etc/hosts file, but I'm
learning this stuff rather quickly, these days!

Thanks for your help!
