Brute force solution: put the Raq2 os on it, it has shadow/PAM support,
you have to wipe the disk tho, and web stuff works differently, if the
machine is being used this isn't a pretty option ;)



(Theres' more to shadow than just a file or two, linux adopted PAM shortly
after shodow support, and the combination affects every binary on the
machine subject to user authentication, along with many of the system
libraries, eg, you are talking about upgrading a big chunk of the machine)
