I have a NASRAQ that I intend to use for multiple server backups (weekly)
for about a dozen RaQ2's. Trying to figure out the best way to do this. Here
is the scenario:
1. NASRAQ's have NFS, just not activated, command line admin only (no prob).
2. NASRAQ's do not have ssh or ssl. The pkg files for the RaQ2's will not
work on the NASRAQ even though it is a mips as well. I can certainly use the
portable distros, then setup rsync.
3. For simplicity sake, I thought about using NFS since it is native to the
2's then just editing the hosts.allow/deny files on the NAS so that the
webservers and whatever admin IP's I want will have access to the NASRAQ,
add portsentry/logcheck for good measure and go. Any thoughts?
The NAS does not have ftp (installed but not started) or DNS running so the
security loopholes are somewhat reduced. Anyone running NFS with SSH? Does
it really matter?
The Nas has 2 30G hd setup for RAID1, so I can allocate a couple of gigs or
so for backup with space left over. I would love to hear from anyone who is
actually using this setup.
