Hmmmmmmm, I'm in a unique situation with FTP. I am the one who also
does all of the client site changes so I am able to turn on FTP ONLY
when I need to. This messages every 15 minutes like clockwork <usually
3 times in a row> when I turn it on. I can actually turn on FTP upload,
and if it was a minor change, turn off FTP before I even get this
message. I will get this message only when I have FTP on for longer
than 15 minutes and I KNOW it's not a hack3r attempt. These started
appearing for me, after proFTP update. I did not need to get the latest
BIND update as one of the earlier update/pkgs installed BIND 8.2.3
<<<confused but is for a separate thread???
Anyhow I wish I had a solution to offer as well. I was contemplating
adding this to logcheck.ignore BUT I think I want to know if someone is
attempting to login in via 'anonymous'.
BTW, weird but another situation happening since this update is FTP
permissions. Example:
www.domiannamehere.com has two site admins. One of them uploads a new
file to the site. Then using the second admin info we try and upload
the exact same file and get a "permission denied error". If we then
attempt to FTP the file up as SERVER admin we still get a "permission
denied". This only started happening after the proFTP 1.2.0rc3 update
<yeah the update that needs updating LOL>
I'm getting much better at this Linux stuff so I am off to view
proftp.conf to add the global lines to help prevent the DoS attacks as
well as looking for some "permission" set-ups??? anyone think they can
send a helping e-mail before I start playing??? lmao......
Sorry for the lengthy book.....
