I disagree. With some large companies as list members they could be daily or
weekly be selling used RaQs on eBay and basically spamming this list with
ads for their sale. Fortunately Yahoo has started charging for auctions so
the spam I've gotten regarding Cobalt's for "sale" on yahoo has stopped.
Those sales were just ads for hosting in disguise, as there are also some on
eBay like that now.

I don't think it does any harm to ask that either, as long as you request
replies to be sent privately and not to the list. In that case, it's a good
idea to put in a Reply-to: address in your email program so replies aren't
accidentally sent to the list.
