You must be reading my mind. My next question was going to be "How did
things go with the power outages?"
Seeing as I hear predictions of more outages this summer when the A/C starts
coming on, that's a valid worry.
SMUD has its own power plants, with 2 more smaller "peak usage" ones
coming online soon. The now-closed McClellan Air Force Base had their
own, and SMUD is using it as well.
I'd ask about power generators 'n such but I should just go to the site and
answer my own questions. :)
Quite an impressive setup. IIRC, it can sustain A/C and power for 2-3
days on its own.
I'd still be worried about a head crash though, all it takes is a little
rumbling to do that - when was the last time there was any earth movement up
there? (Hey! No dirty thoughts on that one! <g>)
In Sacramento?

"The Greater Sacramento Area ranks among the lowest in the state for
the probability of a major earthquake"
HP, NEC, Apple, Intel, eTrade, Lockheed, Sun, Oracle, Aerojet,
Mckesson HBOC, and others all have large data centers (or their
corporate offices/some sales offices) here.
We don't care about Packard Bell anymore. :)
Oh, and for hosting? Wavve Communications, Inflow, and a new company
called Raging Wire do dedicated co-location here.
Sure wish there was a nice co-lo/dedicated leasing facility here near VA
Beach. I'd be on it in a millisecond.
Real estate is still cheap out here too. ;)
