Earthquakes? In California? Naah. :) We don't get too many up here. I've visited the facility and actually checked that bit out.. those racks aren't going *anywhere* :) It's also directly across the street from the main Pacific Bell CO. There's more bandwidth running 'round down here than I can keep track of. Plus, being on the same power grid as the state capitol (and not having PG&E for power) is a definite plus in this day & age.
Besides, it's good to toss hard drives around once in a while. Keeps the data in its toes, ya know? :)
