Sigh... since we're on the subject, my anonftp seems to be broken this
morning. :( No complaints from anyone yet, but I just tried to login and
what we said to each other was...
220 abc.com FTP server (Version wu-2.6.1(1) Wed Aug 9 05:54:50 EDT 2000)
ready.
Name (localhost:rpaiz): anonymous
331 Guest login ok, send your complete e-mail address as password.
Password: ********
530 Can't set guest privileges.
Login failed.
What might have possibly happened? (Note: this server is about two weeks
old, and I can't guarantee that it *ever* worked since I set it up.
Maybe I did something wrong then.)
My /var/ftp/etc/group file:
root::0:
bin::1:
daemon::2:
sys::3:
adm::4:
ftp::50: (damned automatic hyperlinking...)
My /var/ftp/etc/passwd file:
root:*:0:0:::
bin:*:1:1:::
operator:*:11:0:::
ftp:*:14:50:::
nobody:*:99:99:::
There is no "anonymous" user in my passwd file, but there is an ftp user
(userid 14, group 50). The /etc/shadow file shows a "*" for ftp's
password, which generally means a disabled account.
Ideas?
I would happily RTFM, but THERE IS NO FM! The anonftp RPM includes
*zero* documentation. Nada. Zip. Zilch. *Plonk*
