Not sure if you can help me, but I have a network with a Qube 3 as my
network
connection (using PPP to get to the Internet) with a hub and two machines
behind it,
a Windows ME and a Windows NT machine. Most everything works fine (web
access
[HTTP and HTTPS], ssh (and sshd for coming in), DNS, email, ping, etc), but
I have run
into three problems:
1) The Windows ME machine can connect to the windows update site, determine
what
needs to be updated and start the update, but nothing ever downloads
(hangs
in the downloading dialog - it eventually fails). However I can do this
operation from my
Windows NT machine.
2) The Windows NT machine runs Quicken. I can download stock quotes but all
attempts
to access the online banking services hang. This works fine for me when
this machine
(a laptop) is connected to my work network which uses NAT for accessing
the Internet.
3) VPN using PPTP from my Windows NT machine to my companies VPN server does
not
work behind the Qube3. I have seem on this list that this is a common
problem related
to VPN and NAT/MASQ and it can't be handled in general. However, is it
possible to set up
forwarding in the firewall to handle mapping from just the Windows NT
machine to the VPN host?
Has anybody seen these or similar problems? Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Rick
