I fear you misunderstood my question. Perhaps a couple of well-placed asterisks will help :-)

Is there any way of ensuring that the Cobalt web-based admin system is *only* displayed via https and not normal http?

And the reply, again, is: Install a cert (self-signed is OK for this purpose)
(Try to log in the via http and you'll see where it will get ya)

However, you will need to modify apache conf so the not found and error pages are not pulled from your default admin server, cuz then the cert. message would be popping up.
