It's simple. SSH Coporation's license is far more restrictive than
OpenSSH's license. With OpenSSH I don't have to worry about
non-commercial or commercial licenses. I can use it on all my machines
and not worry about it.
The fact that OpenSSH is created by the same people who make OpenBSD
speaks volumes about OpenSSH's robustness and security. OpenBSD hasn't
had a remote root exploit in the default install in almost three years.
The developers are fastidious about auditing their code to eliminate
possible problems. I'm pretty sure they've done the same with OpenSSH.
Also, I would think that the OpenSSH team would have security holes either
fixed before they're found, or patches distributed before SSH would.
All this and OpenSSH supports the SSH2 protocol.
Just my $0.02.
