I don't want to be pessimistic, but I recently had the same problems (with
PICO, TOP and other programs), and it was the result of a hack. I had to
reinstall the OS from CD...

Nope, I get the same error.. PICO always used to work fine for me, with a
telnet program in VT100 mode.. Now all of a sudden I get these terminfo
errors.. Not just with PICO, but also with other commands like LESS ..
