com/net/org are gTLD's (g for GLOBAL) and anyone can register them; they
are *not* US-limited in any way and never have been. I've been using
.net domains in Guatemala since 1995.

Most com/net/org names are in the US, which has every right to them
since it's a part of this GLOBE like everyone else. However, it's not
the entire globe by any means.
