RE: [cobalt-users] Enough is enough...

Your complaint is the classic one that occurs when people use GUI
interfaces but never really understand the underlying system. Much like MAC
users who think they are computer proficient but can never fix their
computers so they are forever reloading everything when there is a slight
problem.

I do agree that Cobalt should make a secure box but Microsoft can't even
make a secure browser and email client without continuous service pak
updates so Cobalt was no different than any one else who rushes a product
to market without seeing all the bugs or holes.

The fact is that is takes 2 years minimum to become unix-proficient and
some people can never grasp the opsys so the GUI helps those that don't
know squat about unix. However, it will never replace the training and
experience necessary to make these boxes really run right or to fix even
simple unix problems. That is why this list is suffused with newbie
questions that are easily fixed by any unix person but can be daunting when
faced by an NT person.

But then again, Cobalt sold the company for 4 BILLION dollars so they can't
be that stupid, arrogant, or bumbling. I only wish I had invented this box
and you guys could be bitching about me while I was sipping a Pina Colata
on a nude beach in St Martin and trying to figure out how to spend 4
billion bucks before I died!
