Uncheck frontpage.  Recheck it.  Make sure that there is 1 more user allowed on the site than you are using.  Go into FrontPage and publish.  Put in webmaster for username and enter the password for webmaster.  This worked for a client of mine that was getting security problems.  He was trying to ftp the files but the permissions were not being set properly on the FTP'd files, you need to upload them through FrontPage (when you are really using the extensions).

Since we upgraded to latest security fix we have lost the ability to use Frontpage.  We get asked for our login/passwd details but
still not recognising them

Also came across error that said base directory had wrong permissions.

Looks like the security upgrade worked too well.

Andy advice would be cool
