I think that Frontpage is a nice program, but you have to be carefull. One
thing that I realized is that you can do an excellent page in Frontpage and
view it in Netscape and wonder what happened. I have an extensive
background programming, but I'm always open to new ideas. I think
Dreamweaver Ultra is nice, still evaluating
Also I think it would be a good idea for everyone posting to the list to
include the date that we sent the posting. For some reason, some of my and
others posting are taking 7 to 10 day to post. Wondering how many other
posting are in Cyberspace.

It doesn't get any better than FrontPage.
The single most valuable investment I have ever made was
when I swallowed my pride and bought a Windows powered machine
and loaded a copy of FrontPage 2000 on it just last year. Yes, I
miss the purity of writing HTML in VIM and the stability of the
Linux boxes I used to work do this kind of thing on, but having
tried them all I stand firm on my statement: It doesn't get any
better than FrontPage.
And for those of you who wish to flame me, here's a link to
a site I did for a high-end celebrity client in FrontPage just last
week. No, I didn't design the graphics or the page layout, but the
entire site was created in FrontPage and I never once touched the
code with anything that didn't come on one of the two FrontPage 2000
installation disks and which could not be accessed directly from
the main FrontPage menu:

No, we don't host the site here, and no my name does not
appear anywhere on the site or in the code that makes the site work.
Thus, you are going to have to trust me. Then again, I can tell you
what changes will be seen after next Monday's upload (and the next
Monday's, etc.) so you need not trust me very far... even if you
don't trust me, the Java code should prove that the site was
indeed done in FrontPage.

Rather than dump it, head to cnet.com and do a search on
FrontPage. Many of the tricks that I use can be found there.
FrontPage 2000 rocks. Gad, even a purist like me can find a
home in FrontPage. With a page loaded in the GUI interface, click
"Tools", then click "Macro" then click "Microsoft Script Editor" -
what? You didn't install it? Then, imo, you have absolutely no right
to disparage what may very well be the finest integrated HTML
development platform on the market today.
I knew Bill Gates back when his mom was still cleaning the
snout off his upper lip. Didn't like him much then, can't stand him
now. I honestly think that Microsoft may very well be the borge. But
I'm too old and fat to keep beating my head against the wall. Today
it's the right tool for the job - nothing else matters.
I use FrontPage... and I laugh all the way to the bank.
I posted instructions to this list on how to make it rock
just a week or two ago. You'll find them in the archives.
