Steve,
Thanks for the tip.
I was wondering however if the force install can be done through the web
interface entirely, because I have no telnet access whatsoever to my system.
I do not have ssh access either.
The PKG file consist of an upgrade_me script, which is the script that does
that actual installation of the RPMs included in the package. I was
wondering if someone has played around some with this script to force it to
install ontop of another installation.
That is the only way I could think of to get some of my services back up and
running, since the hacker attack.
On that same note, is there anything out there that we can use to Protect
our cobalt systems, other than going out and buying hardware firewall
systems? Is there anything like Black Ice, or Zone Alarm for the linux
system? I have heard on this board that some people use portsentry, but I
have also heard different stories about that.
Thanks
Gregg

Gregory,
I had a problem with a faulty install of one of the cobalt patches that was
corrupt from a bad download session. I did not realize it was corrupt and
installed it. It did not complete, but did update the database and I could
not get a good copy to reinstall.
I went to /var/lib/cobalt and removed the associated md5lst file and then
was able to reinstall over the top. I'm not sure of what sort of problems
this could possibly cause, but it worked for me.
