With the latest updates to these services on the Cobalt.. how much safer are they now?

So far in listening to all this... I've not heard a lot of mention of the GUI being a big hole.. though it seems, with the standard method to call it and log in (user name is a given) that this would be a hole.. 

I know the unix/linux guys hate it but it sure is a time saver... but does seem as though it would be a major hole.
