Re: [cobalt-users] admin & root pwds don't match

Actually my problem is a bit different. When I changed my admin password via the web interface, my root password changed and I now can NOT su to root, so there are many things I can't do like restarting the web server (which I need to do now.)

I've run into this, too. There is a distinct difference between 'admin'
and 'root' as far as I can see, on the Cobalt. That is, Cobalt's web
interface tries to treat 'admin' as 'root' for some purposes, but it
doesn't seem to want to do this *consistantly* where passwords are
concerned.

Me, I just bypass the whole mess and use passwd under a secure telnet
session.

Understand, though, that if you do this for *other* accounts, they may
not be able to get their email (POP/IMAP) until you also reset their
password through the web interface.
