Hello,
It seems that my server is also in Hacked List. Through the GUI, active
monitor is showing that all three services - Mail, Telnet and FTP - are
not responding. I installed OS4 and other patches and got FTP back as
running.
I tried to activate TELNET and EMAIL server through GUI , but failed to
do so. After some ftp access and going through files, I found that
inetd.conf is changed and contains only ftp as a service in it. There is
a inetd.conf.master which has all entries intact.
I logged into ftp as 'admin' and saw the contents. But, was not able to
modify it (download and correct and upload). It seems I have to be root
to replace the file. I can't log in as root through ftp. (Is there any
ftp interface using which I can SU as root?)
Is there a way out of this? Can some one create a package (.pkg) which I
can install through the GUI interface which can just copy the
inetd.conf.master into inetd.conf. I believe that Cobalt's package
installation mechanism automatically become as root user and does the
job.
Thanks for any suggestion and help.
Regards
Vijay Nair
