Just jumping in here because its the rude thing to do ;)
That's sort of like suggesting that anyone who wants to buy a washing machine should hire a Maytag repairman to run it for them. Let's not forget that Cobalt marketed this device as an appliance for which you did not need to have ANY linux knowledge.
When appliances break or have design flaws that cause them to not work properly when faced by an environment that could be reasonably expected for the appliance, it is up the the manufacturer to make it right.
While it is true that a Maytag repairman will get more life out of his washing machine than you or I will, manufacturers are faced with the reality that most of their customers are not Maytag repairmen and must take this into consideration during the design phase.
Now if the washing machine were marketed as a Maytag repairman fixer-up special, it might be a different story.
