The usual incentive (cash) will probably work. You could create two
servers: one on which security is as tight as you can make it, and one
where you live with less security but more convenience. However, you
don't *publicize* your new server as being secure, for liability
reasons; you just state that this is a "pro" service or something which
requires a more cooperative customer but rewards with better prices and
*probably* better uptime.
You assume that, over time, you will save X dollars by having better
security, and you offer some discount to those clients who are willing
to live with the restrictions in the hope of getting both a better price
and better service.
Not guaranteed to be successful, but I don't think it can hurt. Since
I'm just getting started in the business, I might try this as an
experiment. It's just one new product to offer, and one more server to
build.
