We now use ArcServe2000 Enterprise with the UNIX agents on all of our Linux
& Cobalt boxes .. it backs up all from / down .. full back up unlike the out
of box backup that the RaQ does .. its all but worthless .. Your option
would work of course but we find that after a full total system losses and
this latest round of hacks that this is the only way to fly .. we have just
now started this backup to our Cobalt boxes after learning just how truly
worthless the RAQ backup is .. cost us many dollars and time lost to learn
that .. there is a small hack you have to do to get ArcServe to run but once
done its gold ..

I had an idea and want to toss it out to the you guys.
When considering back up service for a RAQ4 - how can you back up the WHOLE
server, including user sites etc.
I then thought - there is no clear cut path for this.
Has anyone used a NAS server (Like a SNAP Server)?
How do you back up a box and the individual sites?
We were thinking of setting each site on a scheduled basis to back up to a
SNAP type server using ftp.
Would this work? How about performance?
Then how would you be able to back up the rest of the box?
How is the restore done using this method - is it clean?
Needless to say, we are still looking for a cleaner solution.
