Howdy,
Can someone please tell me what sort of tape drives you have used with
the Qube3 for backups??? Name, make, model#, type of media, how
connected to Qube, etc...
I am aware of the Qube's ability to backup to another remote filesystem
(SMB, NFS, FTP, etc), but I want to deploy some Qube3's in offices that
do not have fileservers laying around to back things up to. Ideally i
would like to connect a DAT tape drive or similar device to the Qube and
have the backup scheduled by the Qube's web-based software. Although
right now, it is not obvious to me how to do that, even after reading
the Qube3's manual online.
Any information you can give me on a recipie that will work (which
drive, media, drivers, card, tar commands etc) with the Qube3 would be appreciated.
I spoke with Cobalt sales and tech support and they seem to be telling
me that even though the Qube has a SCSI port and a PCI slot, they don't
really want to tell me to hook anything to it. This seems crazy, as how
would you back it up? Once again, I am buying Qubes to put in small
offices that are not controled by a large datacenter with big servers
and tape systems.
What does everyone do to back their Qubes up????
many thanks,
-dave
