[cobalt-users] Long User Names

(1) I am a newbie here and am trying to transfer all my users on an existing
Linux box over to my new RAQ4. Some of my users have names like
bishop.frederick   which is over 12 characters . Any ideas on how I can get
around this problem. I don't want to change the users email addresses as
they have all been published.

(2) any way around the ~ tilde problem that app[arently must be suffixed on
a user e.g.    www.domain.com/~fred

i would prefer   www.domain.com/fred   but I can see that this would make it
a subdir under my main directory. The problem is that we seem to put the
directories under   www.domain.com/users/fred/web    etc etc
