The details of how to edit those files via a Web-based interface will
depend primarily on what Web-based interface you want to use. It is not
primarily a matter of permissions, since you still want only the real
user to be able to edit those files.

777 permissions would allow anyone on Earth to read and overwrite any
file your user chose to put in his space... not an advisable thing.
