Re: [cobalt-users] sites & users - who can upload files?

If you want "bob" to be able to update the main sites content, but don't
want him to have admin rights in the GUI (If I'm understanding you
correctly), then you could modify the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file to
reflect the document root of the website as /home/sites/site1/users/bob/web/
vs. /home/sites/site1/web/.
As ever, --> cp httpd.conf httpd.backup before!, and do a
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart" after you've modified the conf file.

Hope this helps
Doug

Subject: [cobalt-users] sites & users - who can upload files?

Hey all-
Just a (hopefully) quick question:
I've got 2 domains on a RaQ3. Let's call the main domain
"raq.host.com" and the other domain "shop.bob.com"

shop.bob.com has 1 user, bob.
raq.host.com has 2 users, chip and dale. (chip is the admin)

Now, in order for bob to be able to FTP pages to
/home/sites/www.bob.com (which is actually a symlink to
/home/sites/site1),do I *HAVE* to make "bob" a Site Administrator?
I noticed that this happens in /etc/group:
site-adm:x:111:admin,bob,chip
admin:x:27:admin
mysql:x:112:
site1:x:113:admin,bob
[8:45pm] 7 [/etc]:raq%

I just don't want to change anything in /etc that would void the
warranty or screw up something in the GUI.

Should I just make a user of "webmaster" and tell bob to use that for
the main account?

What are the rest of you doing in that situation?

Thanks :)
