[cobalt-users] su : incorrect password

hi all
i have a cobalt raq 2, but the last server admin , have changed de root password , and when i try to make a su -
and put the actual admin passowrd , the server sende me a 
su:incorrect password.
I have tryed to reset the password via reset button , but only resets the admin password.
i dont have de recovery cd , how can i change the root password or bypass it to gain root privileges.
its very important because , the server is virtually exposed to attack from the last admin who have the pass.
i need help really soon.
