(Sorry I cant be more specific, you didn't say what machine you are using - my example is based on raq3)
Have a look at your "proftpd.conf" file probably in the "/etc/" directory, there MAY be a file called "proftpd.conf.rpmsave" or something similar, one of the updates I did on my raq3 completly scapped my changes to "proftpd.conf", and I had to mess around re-editing it so I could resume FTP again!
