Re: [cobalt-users] Hosting Limit on Cobalt RAQ3

We have a number of RAQ3's and have experimented with site limits to memory
ratio. We had 400 sites running ok on one for a while. But after further
testing
and monitoring.
250-300 - No Problems
300-350 - Ok providing no one is using massive amounts of cgi scripts or
Getting a huge number of hits to the site
350-400 - Stability problems occur, frequent restart required, at the upper
end the unit just locks requiring a power cycle. This
always causes
and fsck and after a number of these you will have to
re-install.

Please note these test were done on a machine with the clients permission
(he
wanted to know how many of his multiple site (1500) we could fit per raq.
He has settled on 275 as the optimum price / performance.

It has proved to us that the 250 limit is there for a reason.

The above information is based on our experience and may have no relation
to your usage. Experiment at your own risk.
