What is the format of the log file (access.log)? Does it start with a domain name? If it does, did you recntly install any packages that fix log related problems (reporting)? I had this problem on the RaQ4 after a package was installed that Cobalt provided. I copied the old log split routine back and everything was OK. The split is in /usr/local/sbin and is called split_logs, there should be a split_logs.pkgsave in there if it was replaced. If it was, you might try (as root) /usr/local/sbin/split_logs.pkgsave web < /etc/httpd/logs/access
