I don't know if there's an actual limit, but I imagine the real limit
will be your patience as you add more and more subscribers the gui.

Don't forget that for each subscriber you're creating not just a
mailbox, but also a user with ftp privileges and a website.

It is my real and firm belief that if you insist on doing this on the
RaQ (and the RaQ was NOT designed with this kind of application in mind)
then your quality won't be high enough to offer to your customers,
either.

However, saying that, you'll need to put as much memory as possible into
your RaQ3. How about disk space? If you've got 4500 users and each one
needs a 5 megabyte mailbox then you'll need to set up 6 megabytes per
user (presuming the user will NEVER use pop to get his/her email;
otherwise you'll need 11 megabytes per user, and you'll have a support
nightmare every time your user ends up with 6 megabytes of mail and
can't download it). 6 megabytes per user for 4500 users is 27,000
megabytes, so you'll need at least a 30 gigabyte hard disk.

And don't forget, webmail pages are "active" not static; you have to ask
yourself if a 300 MHZ AMD K6-2 will handle your peak load. If your
users hardly ever login, maybe. Maybe not.

I stand by my recommendation.

If you need to know if there's an exact limit, try the people on the
cobalt-developers list; it's the place for this kind of question.
