There is a way to do it manually(yuckkkkkk), and if you want to mess
with the cobalt cgi stuff, you could make it automagic

Log onto system via telnet as admin

cd/home/sites/site_number/users/name_of_user

pico
cd ../../web

CRTL X
answer yes to saving buffer
save as .profile

Advantage is that since the file is owned by admin, the user can't
modify it (g)

since it's a .file, unless the user does ls-fla, he doesn't see it,
and unless he tells his ftp program that remote files are -a,
he won't see it

All it does is issue the command cd ../../web

So, user doesn't have to muck about with cd

If user is using ftp, rather than telnet, just tell him/her to
enter /web in the advanced properties/startup/remote site
portion of their ftp client

You could even drop a readme file in the user directory that
he/she can ftp to his/her system....which doesn't force the
user to use telnet (g)

Gads...one could even include the how to setup the
ftp client in an email to the user, or a FAQ.

Of course, one should be able to modify the cobalt cgi file
that sets up the value of where the user lands at logon.
/etc/passwd ?????
