H.P., are you also implying that "shell scripting" is commonly used to
describe specifically *bash* scripting? It sounds that way... I'm
comfortable around both bash and tcsh, but have never bothered with
other shells.
Sounds like your advice is really "learn bash scripting, then learn
perl." Which sounds most reasonable. Another O'Reilly book to buy...
