[cobalt-users] Raq3i - Changing IP's - Backup/restore - Frontpage

I am trying to verify a "Bug" I think I may have found, or at least figure a
way around it.

I have about 40 sites hosted on my 3i.
The ISP I have been using is going ByeBye, so I need to change the IP
addresses of all my sites.

On the surface this seems pretty straightforward. For most of them, I can
just update the DNS, change the IP address in the GUI, and when the DNS
updates, they are happy. For some of the heavy used sites, I am doing the
same thing, only I am hand editing the httpd.cfg file so the virtual server
will answer for either the old IP or the new one (I have both interfaces
active a the moment, one for each provider).

Now, here is what has happened.

The sites that do NOT use FrontPage to publish seem happy as a clam. The
answer on the new domain fine, all is good. The ones that have 2 IP's also
answer fine on both IP addresses, happy happy. (I just can't use the GUI to
make any changes to the site settings while both IP addresses are in the
.conf file, it can't find it when that is the case).

NOW, on the front page sites. The sites that were heavily using front page
(Themes, nav menus etc) seem to have gotten hammered big time. First of
all, the sites seem to have lost ALL their front page components totally
(Background images, menus EVERYTHING). Also, front page itself would no
longer allow a login to the site to modify the files. All the files were
still there when I looked in the directory, they just won't pull the files
up. I tried the remove server extensions then put them back.. no good.

Now like a good little camper, before I made these changes, I had used the
Cobalt GUI to make a backup of the entire site before I started messing with
it. So no big deal, I can just remove the site per cobalt's knowledge
base, and then put it back as a new one, create the users, and restore it.
I discovered I can only do a restore if I am logged in as one of the site
admins, and not as the server admin.. Ok.. fine.. whatever. Then the
restore. GUESS WHAT.. It won't restore the files.. My guess is that with
the front page "security" fix they ran several months ago, the one that
changed the permissions on ALL the front page files, the same one that made
the cgi's not work and made it so you aren't able to modify files via Telnet
or FTP if you upload them with front page... I believe that has also
"Fixed" the restore process to no longer restore files created with front
page!

SO... How in the WORLD do I move the front page files to the new IP
address? Am I going to have to pull every site down with front page using
front page, publish it to my local drive, delete the v-server, recreate it
then re-upload it (This will be fun on the sites with 100 e-mail accounts!)

Anyone from Cobalt monitor this list? I of course can't talk to them
anymore without shelling out a couple of C-Notes, to find out even if they
DID break it. No support for their "fixes" I guess.. Course, they tell
you to install them, but then when they break stuff, they won't help you fix
it..

If anyone has ANY ideas, or knows ANYONE at cobalt that may be able to help
I would surely appreciate it..
