Re: [cobalt-users] Stats on Raq4i

I installed Webalizer on my RaQ4 using the pkg on the cobalt site. I
first saved it to my hard drive just because I was stuck using a modem
that day.

I then logged into my admin system for the server, and went to the
maintenance option, then install software option.

Simply do install, choose the file from your harddrive, and upload it.

I forget but I think once done you can click a link there for the
installed application and it gives you two links- one to the webalizer
docs website, and one to an option for webalizer on your server.

Once you do that, every night in the AM the logs will run. I get a
truncated referrer field message everyday because it runs as a CRON job,
but no worries there.

Only concern is that if you have customers via a hosting business and
publicly list your customers someplace, remember that all your /stats/
files are open for EVERY domain on the server ... meaning they can be
read by any web browser.

For most of my clients I have gone in through telnet and created a
password for the directory (via .htpasswd) so that only the site owner
can read their own stats.

I know I skimmed a bit, but hope it's a help. It worked the first time,
and there was nothing to modify! :) Just make sure you use the one on
the Cobalt site and not the Webalizer site.
