Re: [cobalt-users] (RaQ3) Recompiling apache.

I was able to build the .so file, and added it to httpd.conf. I get the
error (undefined symbol: __ucmpdi2) when I try to restart apache.

The module comes with instalation notes, and a Makefile (and a
./configure). I was able to run all that, but 'make' just prints the
instructions to recompile apache with the module.

So your Apache's down now, Ariel? You stopped and tried to restart and it didn't? Remember that it's not enough to only restart Apache, you have to stop first and then restart it.

I'd go to the Apache mailing list with the problem because I'll bet it has to do with where the files are that the mod is looking for. They are NOT in the expected places...that much I know and this may be giving you problems. Frankly, the only "undefined symbol" errors I know are connected with PERL -- but that's MY ignorance at work so I can't help much father than that.

Isn't there a configuration file with the options to compile everything?

Not ONE (in fact, there are several config files even in an INSTALLED Apache but they won't help in recompiling). I have to repeat, Ariel, that the Raq has apache files and modules in "unorthodox" places and recompiling is complicated. It's been discussed here before: recompiling Apache on a Raq almost always causes problems that must then by diagnosed and resolved...over and over.

I would really urge you to go to one of the Apache lists and state the problem and see what you get before doing a recompile of the server. The Apache project people are numerous, knowledgable and very helpful. I don't use the mod so I can't be much more helpful than that. Sorry...wish I could.
