[cobalt-users] [O/T] A convenient example of M$ peculiarities

**Not** as an anti-M$ rant, but I installed Office2000 SR1 this morning,
*then* read my email.
Big mistake #1, read email on a windows box...<growl>
In replying to Rodolfo's post, I wondered why I was seeing RTF, but
figured the original post was RTF, so Outlook2K was obliging me by
setting up the reply in the same format. In itself, that is not an
unusual occurrence.
<slap> stupid assumption!</slap>
After some post-reply investigation, I realized that Office2K SR1 update
decided to rework **all**
my email settings, (for example choosing *MSWord* as a default email
editor!!)then selecting RTF as the default
format, changing other behavior behind the scenes as well.
Never having seen Word launched as an email editor before, I was
blissfully unaware of what was right in front of my eyes.
So...that's why something showed up from me in RTF...<sigh> just to
compound other infuriating matters from the past 24 hours.
Ah sheesh...mea culpa...mea culpa.
