Not too sure why it's useful or whether is has any use at all... but...
I'm not too sure about email, but I know proftpd does a reverse lookup by
default. To disable it, add the following line to the proftpd.conf in /etc:
UseReverseDNS off
After that, restart inetd and you should be set.
