RE: [cobalt-users] (RaQ2) Bounced Mail From AOL

All it means is that you need to collect your mail (via POP) before sending.
This allows authentication to take place and protects your server from being
used as a mail relay for spammers etc.

Do you run the Pop before SMTP daemon. If not you can get it from the cobalt
site.

Subject: [cobalt-users] (RaQ2) Bounced Mail From AOL

Hello All,

This list has been most helpful in the past in resolving issues with our
servers. Most times my questions are addressed before I have time to ask
them.

A few of our hosting customers are getting the following error messages when
sending email through their AOL accounts. It appears that this just started
happening since we have not had the problem before.

Below is a copy (Edited) of one of the replies from a bounced message. The
IP Address is not one of ours.

---------------------
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by
the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'y(edited)y@xxxxxxx'. Subject
'test', Account: '207.208.8.251', Server: '207.208.8.251', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 <y(edited)y@xxxxxxx>... Relaying denied. Please POP
before sending.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error
Number:
0x800CCC79
---------------------

Any ideas? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Sandy
