RE: [cobalt-users] MySQL, PHP AddType, and migration help please

I had the same problem when I used the zip version and ftp'd it to the raq.
I had no problems with the tar.gz version. What version of the distribution
did you use??

Subject: [cobalt-users] MySQL, PHP AddType, and migration help please

Hello All,

First, I am new and have read and re-read as much as I could
via the site all the archives I could. Without this list I
do not think we would have gotten this far and I would like
to sincerley thank the folks that have posted all the great
faqs, etc.

My problems are as follows. We have 3 Raq4i Servers that we
bought a few monthes ago when Cobalt was running their
special, prior to this, we had a dedicted server co-located
with Alabanza (Bad News there support wise). I first needed
to get MySQL going so I downloaded and installed the .pkg
file from the reccomended website I have seen in many posts.
Everything went well until I installed phpmyadmin (latest
version). I set the type of access to global so that our
clients could then log in via a web-based interface and at
this point MySQL has died. It continues to complain about
not having a mysql.sock file which I could plainly see.
Below is the server dialog.

mysqld started on Thu Dec 14 14:28:27 EST 2000

/usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections

001214 18:07:33 /usr/sbin/mysqld: Normal shutdown

001214 18:07:34 /usr/sbin/mysqld: Forcing close of thread
167 user: 'root'

mysqld started on Thu Dec 14 18:10:23 EST 2000
001214 18:10:23 Found old style password for user
'churchemembers'. Restart usi
ng --old-protocol
mysqld ended on Thu Dec 14 18:10:23 EST 2000

That is the last transmission I have gotten, other than that
MySQL cannot open nor access the mysql.sock file (which is
there)

I have spent hours looking on their site (mysql.com) and
have found nothing that seems to fix the issue

I then decided ok, I can get the sites that just use php and
perl going and come back to this issue. I cannot get any
files that end in php3 to work correctly, and I have
thorough checked the srm.conf file for typos or lines that
were rem'd out. I see the following in the file

# PHP4 (backwards compatible with php3)
AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php4
AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php
#AddType application/x-httpd-php4-source .php4s
#AddType application/x-httpd-php4-source .php3s
#AddType application/x-httpd-php4-source .phps

It appears to me that it is configured correctly, any
suggestions there would be most appreciated.

Lastly, the migration was a nightmare. I did use some of the
scripting ideas posted in earlier posts and that did help
(thanks to all that contributed there). We currently use
forms to populate clients on our NT servers and I was hoping
to do the same with the Cobalt Raqs. I was wondering if
anyone has had any luck using forms to post to the
appropriate templates on a Raq4i. If so, could you provide
any clues or links that I should investigate further? I have
no problem RTFM if someone could kindly point me at it.

Thanks in advance to all of you, and good luck in your
respective endeavors! Feel free to also respond to
atlmatt26@xxxxxxxxxxx as I tend to work at home alot as well
and monitor this account.
