You've managed to confuse me. Where was the file? How was it deleted?
If it was deleted through a telnet or ftp session, then absolutely not.
If you'd have immediately downed the machine, and then brought it back
up without mounting the filesystem, then there are some tools available
with which you might have stood a snowball's chance in hades. But only
that: MIGHT.
Linux is extremely efficient at using/reusing/allocating filespace.
If you're system's been running a few hours since the file was deleted,
then no.
