While everything else seems to be fine in the GUI, I seem to have lost the
GUI main opening screen that displays the sites. All the sidebars and
lower-level screens appear. Best I can figure is that it has something to
do with postgresql not starting following a deletion in /var/log. postgrsql
postgreSQL.1.gz and postgreSQL.2.gz as well as the postmaster stuff is
there, but still when starting I get messages for admin in my mailbox that
say:
Subject: the PostgreSQL server is not responding
The PostgreSQL server is down and cannot be restarted.
I ran: [root init.d]# ./postgresql restart
and got: Shutting down PostgreSQL: not running!
Setting up PostgreSQL: bash: /var/log/postgresql: Permission
denied
failed!
[root init.d]#
While studying the archives here, I found some things that were close but
just not clear. can anyone tell me what this really means? Can I rebuild
this?
Thanks
