My guess is that you are running webalizer or some such
thing and that the resulting HTML is being stored in that directory.
If such is the case, then this is a problem you are more or less
going to have to live with. You really should not as much as touch a
FrontPage web with any other tool and that's pretty much what you
are doing. About the only easy solution I know of is to create a
similarly named directory on the local copy of the web and configure
FrontPage so as to not upload it. FrontPage 2000 provides the
functionality for this but you'll have to read the manual to find it
as I can't recall which button to push. A permanent fix would be to
either fix the stats thingy so it creates the content with the
permissions and file ownership that FrontPage requires or to write a
script that sets the permissions properly on the stats directory and
everything so FrontPage can do what FrontPage does - make sure the
local copy matches the live copy of the web and that the live copy
matches the local copy of the web.
The problem is that FrontPage can't properly update due to
content that it does not see as part of the web itself - that stats
directory. It can't download it and update the local web because the
permissions are wrong and thus it chokes.
