Greetings esteemed fellow list members!
Thanks particularly to Brian, Mike and Audric for slam dunking this one.
I hope I didn't miss anyone out, I don't think so, but please forgive
the omission if in fact it turns out that I accidentally did!
Yes indeed, /et/motd is where the lil bugger was, and it's now duly
edited.
The cobalt prompt, while informative (and necessary for some, I have
little doubt) was making me bonkers (it doesn't take much!!)
Just as a matter of interest, here's what a console login "greeting" now
looks like;
=================================
Welcome to Colin's Linux Box!
Cobalt Linux release 4.0 (Fargo)
Kernel 2.0.34 on a mips
Wahoo! Isn't this FUN???
=================================
That said, perhaps in the future I'll rotate greetings based on season,
mood, time of day, party in office...who knows? Oh! I just had an
idea...a derivation of "up.sh" (my uptime teed into .signature run as a
cron job) could be used here...oh this just gets better and better.
More importantly, yet once again this list became the place where
knowlege was acquired, and (as shown above as it actually happened),
where *ideas* take hold.
Regards to all, as always.
